Armenian Issues
As a member of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, Representative Maloney works with her colleagues and the Armenian community to strengthen relations between the United States and Armenia. Additionally, Representative Maloney joins with her colleagues from the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues to fight cuts in assistance to Armenia. U.S. assistance has helped Armenia transition from communism to a free market, build democratic institutions and civil society, and provide for the needs of the Armenian people.
The Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues
In 1996, Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Representative Michael Bilirakis (R-FL) founded the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues. The purpose of this bi-partisan caucus is to foster and improve relations between the United States and Greece. The Caucus serves to bring a renewed Congressional focus on key diplomatic, military, and human rights issues in a critical part of the world. The members of the Caucus act together to promote legislation, monitor and arrange briefings on current events, and disseminate information to interested parties. Some of the topics on which the Caucus focuses include U.S. aid to Greece and Cyprus, the conflict on Cyprus, U.S. relations with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and recent developments in the Aegean.
Hungarian Issues
As a member of the Hungarian American Caucus, Representative Maloney works with her colleagues to strengthen relations between the United States and Hungary.
Irish Issues
As a member of the Ad Hoc Congressional Committee for Irish Affairs, Representative Maloney works with her colleagues to strengthen relations between the United States and Ireland. Source: Candidate Website (10/04/2008) |
