Age:
General: (goals, objectives, views, philosophies)   Over the past six years, I have had the honor of being elected and twice re-elected to serve as the South District Representative on the Buffalo Common Council. As a councilmember, I work hard every day as an unyielding advocate for your best interests in your government. I have a proven record of transparency, problem solving, holding people accountable and for creating community initiatives that improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods. I'm asking for your vote on March 20th. If elected, I will protect your hard earned tax dollars at any cost. I am an experienced businessman and public servant working tirelessly to create jobs, lower taxes and improve the lives of residents of Buffalo, Orchard Park, Lackawanna and West Seneca. I realize that in order to earn your vote I need to earn your trust. For the last six years, my actions have allowed me to earn the trust of South District residents. I have always prided myself on talking with my constituents and knowing the issues they care about. Times are tough for families throughout Western New York right now. If families are being forced to make the tough decisions and cut their costs, they should expect the same of their government. Up until Election Day I will be knocking on doors throughout the 145th Assembly District meeting with residents face to face to discuss the issues. I hope that I will have the opportunity to meet you and hear about your concerns as a resident of the district. I know we both want a transparent, honest government that makes smart decisions about the future of Western New York. I have committed myself to achieving that goal.
Personal: (gender, age, marital status, spouse, children, residence)   A lifelong Buffalo resident, Michael P. "Mickey" Kearns is the son of Mary, a Lackawanna native, and Paul Kearns of South Buffalo. Mickey currently lives in South Buffalo with his wife Erin and daughter McKenna.
Education: (schools, colleges, major, degrees)   B.A. in Political Science at Canisius. Paralegal degree from Erie Community College.
Profession: (profession, work experience outside politics)   Mickey began his public service on the streets of Buffalo working as a sanitation worker. He credits this period of his life for creating the foundation of his hard work ethic and loyalty to his family, friends, neighbors, and community. After working in sanitation, Mickey began his career in the private sector working at the law offices of Hiscock & Barclay. Most recently, Mickey served as Vice President at Kearns & Associates, a family owned full service fundraising firm that specializes in helping not-for-profits, local parishes, educational institutions, and healthcare providers through the capital fundraising process so they are able to deliver their services back to the Western New York Community.
Military: (branch, service, active duty, rank, honors, discharge)
Civic: (organizations, charities)
Political: (offices held)   He decided to run for the office of South District Common Council Member in the City of Buffalo. Similar to how Mickey approaches the issues, he ran in 2005 as an unendorsed candidate against the political bosses, beholden only to the residents and taxpayers of the district. He won the primary and general election in a landslide by going directly to the people in his community, knocking on doors and meeting with residents to discuss the issues they care about face to face.
Religion: (religious affiliations and beliefs)
Accomplishments: (awards, achievements)
